In a decision quite beneficial to we PS2ers, THQ has announced development plans for Full Spectrum Warrior on the PlayStation 2. The premise of the game stays intact, giving players the role of a squad leader who must navigate two infantry fire teams through an urban-set warzone. Using the intuitive control system, up to eight solders can be led at once to take on highly sophisticated enemy A.I. through 13 levels.

"Even though FSW was first developed only for the Xbox and PC, we were eager to see what could be done with this amazing game on the PS2," admitted Josh Resnick, president of Pandemic Studios. "Mass Media has really stepped up and done an incredible job translating the experience of FSW to another great platform and has offered a remarkable demonstration of what can be accomplished with PlayStation 2 technology."

"Full Spectrum Warrior is a pioneer of today's trend of developing authentic military games based on genuine military doctrine and advanced A.I.," expounded David Todd, president and CEO of Mass Media. "We're very proud to be associated with the brand and have an opportunity to bring this truly innovative and immersive game play to the PlayStation 2."

Early 2005 is the release date that has been slapped onto the PS2 version of Full Spectrum Warrior, but as a more specific release date surfaces (sources say March) or more details come our way, we'll keep you updated.
