EBWorld and Gamestop Have STOPPED Taking Pre-orders!!!
If you haven't pre-ordered yet, good luck finding one now!

Electronics Boutique and Babbage's, two of the biggest online videogames retailers, have stopped taking pre-orders for the PlayStation 2. EB and Babbage's have stopped guaranteeing customers a console on October 26 if they continue to pre-order through the website.
According to EBWorld:
[blockquote]"If you placed your PS2 order on or before July 9, we expect your console to arrive at launch, which Sony says will be October 26. Feel free to cheer, shed tears of joy or embrace a loved one. If you placed your order between July 10 and July 24, all we can say is that we will get it to you as soon as we can. We expect more shipments of the PS2 after the official launch, but the frequency of those shipments and the number of consoles we will receive remains a mystery. We will do our best to ship your PS2 to you as soon as we receive it. If you placed your order after July 24, may the Force be with you. As you are well aware, demand for Sony's next-generation console seems to have outstripped supply for the foreseeable future. We don't even want to speculate as to when you might receive your order."[/blockquote]
On the same note, the website for Babbage's/Software, Etc., GameStop, has the following warning beneath the order form for the PS2,
[blockquote]""Because of the overwhelming demand for the PlayStation 2, all pre-orders placed on or after July 3, 2000 are not guaranteed for delivery at launch."[/blockquote]
If you're still interested in reserving one online, try Toys R Us or KB Kids. Good luck, as for me, I'll be in line at midnight at my local Software, Etc. with my pre-order slip in hand.
