All you have to do is look back on the news we've posted in the past few days and you'll see ample reason why we're jazzed about the release of Amplitude. The Sequel to the grossly underrated FreQuency, Amplitude is packed with more... well, everything. More flashy happy graphics, more multiplayer modes, more mainstream artists, more online modes, more… You get the idea.

"We are thrilled to introduce Amplitude to rhythm-action fans of PlayStation 2. Playing Amplitude online offers new opportunities for gamers to join online communities and prove their rhythm skills against gamers across the country," gushed Ami Blaire, Sony Computer Entertainment America's director, product marketing. "Providing an immersive, addicting gameplay atmosphere, the fast-paced action will keep players entertained for hours, and provide a whole new avenue for music artists to reach their fans."

The list of big-name acts is extensive, and includes (but is not limited to): David Bowie, blink 182, Pink, Herbie Hancock, Run DMC, Dieselboy, Slipknot, Weezer, P.O.D., Garbage, Quarashi and Logan 7. That doesn't even count any of the guys at Harmonix who seem to be as adept at crafting head-bobbing tunes of their own as the bigger names here.

Check back in a day or two, and we'll have a full review and the full skinny on what's sure to be one of the most hypnotically addictive games of the year… For those of us who dig the idea of making music, anyway.
