Final Fantasy Finally
FFXII is here. Need we say more?
Published: October 31, 2006
“Final Fantasy XII is the most accessible RPG yet, allowing casual and hardcore gamers to truly customize the complexity of the game to their playing style,” begins Daishiro Okada, President and COO, Square Enix, Inc. “We’re also very pleased to be able to provide several exclusives for the North American release including true 16:9 functionality, additional voiced CG sequences and a truly special Collector’s Edition. The Collector’s Edition comes with completely unique packaging, in-depth interviews with the development staff, special trailers, a history of the Final Fantasy series and several other features. We are extremely proud of both versions of Final Fantasy XII and hope gamers will enjoy our efforts.”
We began with this quote because, in all honesty, it's probably all anyone really cares about. The game is out, and--see, you just totally checked out after reading that, didn't you? You're imagining yourself hopping in the car and heading down to your local game store, pointing at the rows upon rows of FFXII game boxes and then disappearing for the next couple weeks. Hey, we understand, we're doing it right now too.
If you've been following the game at all (and honestly, it's been in development for so long right now it almost seems like it was announced around the time the PS2 first came out), the wait for the game has no doubt been unbearable. As the good Mr. Okada explained, the US localization hasn't happened without a few minor upgrades; more CG, 16:9 mode, that Collector's Edition -- Squenix ain't messin' around. Luckily, the game itself, complete with almost MMO-style exploration and AI controlled "gambit"-driven party members is all intact.
Honestly, there's really nothing more that needs to be said. The game is out. The wait is over. Time to kiss your $50 and a good month of your life goodbye. And of course we wouldn't want it any other way.
