Square Discusses FFX Forecasts

Square has already started to discuss their sales predictions regarding Final Fantasy X, the long-awaited PlayStation 2 RPG title.

SquareSoft recently announced their financial forecasts in regards to the tenth chapter of their legendary Final Fantasy RPG series, Final Fantasy X. The game will be released across Japan on July 19th, 2001.


During an interview with Bloomberg Japan, Hiroshi Suzuki, President of SquareSoft revealed that the company expects to ship 2 million copies of the game upon launch. According to the company's forecasts, total sales in Japan will surpass 4 million units, with worldwide sales expected to surpass 10 million units. Previous games in the Final Fantasy series have combined to sell well over 10 million copies through March 31, 2001.

During the interview, Suzuki also discussed the formation of the subsidiary company, created as a joint venture between Square, Namco and Enix. Suzuki confirmed that the formation of this company is running on schedule, and should be fully completed by September 2001. Related network products from this subsidiary firm are expected to hit the market early next year.
