Instead of deciding to make a separate Special Edition version of Final Fantasy X, which would have included additional features not found in the game, Square has decided to include a bonus DVD disc with each and every copy of the upcoming PlayStation 2 RPG title in Japan.
The initial plan was to include additional features, including the Final Fantasy movie trailer, interviews and concept art as part of a Special Edition Final Fantasy X game. The new bonus disc will now house all of these features, preventing a need for a Special Edition release.
Final Fantasy X has currently been scheduled for release on July 19th, 2001 in Japan. No word yet on whether or not the North American version of Final Fantasy X will include the bonus disc or not. We will keep you updated.
