Songs to Knock Teef Out To
Gasp! Fight Night Round 3's soundtrack is hip-hop-heavy!
Published: February 8, 2006
Few sports are intrinsically linked to a type of music like boxing and hip-hop, and EA is clearly capitalizing on this by lining up that pays homage to the pairing rather matter-of-factly. In stark contrast to some of EA's other sports titles that happily deluge listeners with 20 or more songs, Fight Night Round 3 will offer just a dozen tracks.
“EA SPORTS Fight Night is a spectacularly brutal game with bone-crunching gameplay and photo-realistic visuals. We wanted to make sure that the soundtrack is as powerful as the boxer’s punches,” screamed Steve Schnur, EA's Worldwide Executive of Music and Music Marketing. “Each song gets your heart pounding and makes you want to move faster, dig deeper and punch harder.”
In the game, though fellas -- there's no need to go hauling off and busting your best friend's nose because Obie Trice or Consequence fill you with beat down fuel. We don't care if they are Eminem and Kanye West-touted up-and-comers, respectively. They join 10 other artists, including Minneapolis-based group Atmosphere and West Coast trio Dilated Peoples in providing a backdrop to things while you drill through menus in a dash hurry up and right cross fools. The full lineup is as follows:
Dilated Peoples - Back Again
Slic One - Crook Dancin
Roc ‘C’ - Don’t Stop
Young Roscoe - Itz Nothin
L.T.D. A. - Knock Em Down
Sean Biggs feat. Akon & Topic - Never Gonna Get It
Consequence - Night Night
Kray Twinz feat. D&G - Round One
Atmosphere - The Arrival
Dipset - The Best Out
Brasco - Uh-Oh
Obie Trice - Wanna Know
You can actually hear samples of the tracks on EA's official site, but if you can hold off until the 20th, you'll likely hear them more times than you count. That's when the game hits, and likely when we'll have a review. Y'know, as soon as we can curb the urge to break a few ribs.
