FIFA Covers Two More

Freddy Adu and Omar Bravo are added to the 2006 cover.

Sports game covers are starting to become crowded affairs these days. EA just announced the addition of Freddie Adu (the youngest player in 100 years to sign a pro team sports contract here in the US) and Chivas Guadalajara's Omar Bravo to the cover of FIFA Soccer 06. They join Ronaldinho (2004's FIFA World Player of the Year) on the North American cover, making for a nice little trio of faces staring back at you when you go to pick up your copy.

All three athletes have done rather well for themselves, with Adu gaining the aforementioned honors at an early age and arriving on DC United as the 1st overall draft pick for the MLS SuperDraft. In addition to the WPotY title, Ronaldinho also helped FC Barcelona clinch the La Liga during the 2004/2005 season, and at only 19 was key to the success of Brazil's Copa America team in 1999. Bravo has managed to build a reputation as a strong scorer, netting six goals during the Copa Libertadores and a whopping 12 in the Clausura 2005. Not surprisingly, they're also pretty happy about making it onto a couple million FIFA boxes too.

"I’m so excited to be on the cover of EA’s FIFA 2006," Adu said before bursting into flame from sheer joy. "It’s like being in the soccer hall of fame when you are in the company of some of the past athletes that have made the cover. I never thought that EA could make FIFA any better, but again, they keep blowing me away each year and I can’t believe that I am on the cover of the best game out there!"

"I feel very privileged to be asked to be featured in another FIFA Soccer release," added a fire-free Ronaldinho. "The game gives me the opportunity to play the matches I want to play every day of the week – even while away from the field."

Happy folks all around, we say, and they'll likely stay that way so long as they don't have to read another statement about the whole soccer/football debate. Uh oh.
