Eureka!

We found a new game heading to stores.

Boy, some days the headlines just write themselves, don't they? Other days, like today, we try to be clever and fail miserably, but at least you know we tried, man. Actually, that's not true either, since it was really just one word. So we sort of tried. We thought about trying. That totally counts for something, somewhere, to someone.

But yes, this is a story about Eureka Seven Vol. 1: The New Wave, a game with a title as delightfully lengthy as it is nebulous. But then that's just how they roll at Namco Bandai Games America (or as we call them, "NiBuGAaahhhhh") -- specifically the Bandai wing that has that lucrative deal with Cartoon Network to bring like 23 bazillion games to consoles.

Well, this would be number 23 bazillion and one.

As we mentioned when we first announced the game was coming[/ps2news], Eureka Seven concerns itself with waves energy particles called trapars, which gave rise to LFO robo-suits and "ref-boards". It also meant a bunch of people fighting over stuff because humans are stupid, territorial, catty people. But not ace pilot Sumner Sturgeon of the UF Force LFO Riders! Actually, that's not true, we don't know anything about Sumner because we haven't seen the show, nor have we played the game yet, but luckily we don't have to wait any longer as it has officially shipped to stores. Hooray!

“The intriguing, action-based storyline which is the prequel to the animated series, will engage players in the captivating Eureka Seven world,” explained Naruo Uchida, VP of Localization at NiBuGAaahhhhh. “Exhilarating mecha battles on land and air as well as fast-paced board riding and carving in the air will leave players breathless for more.”

Oho, prequel, eh? Well then it wouldn't matter if we had seen the show, this is uncharted territory. You can either wait for our verdict on things or head out to stores now to pick up a copy. We've made sure you have some fancy new screens to help make the decision for you. Yes, we're nice like that.
