The Endgame Is Nigh

Grab your Guncon and warm up your index finger; Endgame has gone gold.

Empire Interactive and Cunning Developments have finally wrapped up development on one of the most interactive light gun games you'll ever see and have sent the final code off to be stamped into a trillion PS2 discs. That's right, kiddies, Endgame is rarin' to go.

We took a brief look at the light gun shooter a while back (click here to see our initial impressions and a bit of detail on the storyline and main character), and have been chomping at the bit to give the full game a go. We'll finally have that opportunity in just a few days.

For those not willing to get a full run-down on Endgame, we'll help sum things up -- at least a little bit. Endgame is, yes, a light gun game, but there's been considerable effort put forth to make sure there's a story tying together all that shooting. You play as Jade Cornell, a girl surrounded by a world addicted to the vicarious experience of Virtual Reality, and central to revealing a plan by leading VR manufacturer EuroDream Technologies to extend VR far beyond just business and pleasure.

We'll have plenty more to reveal once we've spent some time with the game when it hits stores next week, but in the mean time, be sure to hit Empire's web site, their Endgame mini-site, or just check out the official Endgame trailer to get a taste of the index-flexing infrared action.
