Five Times the Xtreme
Koei’s Dynasty Warriors 5 expansion is go.

$30 isn’t really all that much to spend on an expansion pack, right? After all, it’s not like you need to have Dynasty Warriors 5 to play the expansion, Xtreme Legends, and most expansions do require that. Lest you think it’s just more maps and thousands more enemies to hack and slash away at, though, think again.
Koei has packed in an impressive amount of extra goodies in addition to the usual “remixing” of the original game with new content on the Xtreme disc. Legend Mode lets you take part in an entirely new storyline that will finally pit the Wei and Shu kingdoms against each other (y’know, if that sort of thing gets your motor running), Edit Mode lets you whip up your own character from 20,000 possible combinations, and perhaps most impressive of all, you can take a simple foot soldier all the way to legend choosing alliances along the way in Destiny Mode.
“For only $29.99, Dynasty Warriors 5 Xtreme Legends can be played as a standalone game or used as an expansion to the original Dynasty Warriors 5, making it an ideal gift for budget-minded shoppers and core gamers this Holiday season,” repeated Amos Ip, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for KOEI Corporation. “The Dynasty Warriors series of games is clearly one of this generation’s most popular and influential franchises. In North America alone, the original Dynasty Warriors 5 for PlayStation 2 outsold many of this year’s other highly-anticipated games.”
2-player co-op in the new Xtreme Mode, new items, new levels (18 of ‘em, in fact), two new Challenge courses, a Novice difficulty level and a Blacksmith System allowing for upgrades to characters and their weapons when paired with special items were also added. So see, $30 isn’t too much to pay come November 15th, now, is it?
