Pandemic Expands OZ Operations

And it's all thanks to the sales of Destroy All Humans! 2.

We like hearing about a bunch of great guys being rewarded for making games that are actually fun to play. Take, Destroy All Humans!, for example -- or, better yet, its recently released sequel. Thanks to the success of Cryptosporidium 137's second outing, Pandemic's Brisbane, Australia operations have gotten a serious financial shot in the arm, to which we say, "good on ya, mates!" Because all we know of OZ culture is horribly clichéd slang.

“Pandemic’s Brisbane studio has enjoyed great success with the Destroy All Humans! series and we are excited to build on our tremendous base of Australian talent with the addition of a second team,” giggled and clapped Josh Resnick, president of Pandemic Studios. “With the release of Destroy All Humans! 2, our Brisbane studio is now turning its attention to the development of brand new titles for next-generation gaming systems.”

“The Brisbane studio had a blast creating Destroy All Humans! 2 and we’re looking forward to delivering the same unique Pandemic flavor to our fans in future games,” added John Passfield, creative director on Destroy All Humans! 2 as he paused for a moment, then resumed counting money. “Giving fans the freedom to play the game their way is what we do best. The only limits to game-play are the gamers’ imagination.”

Hear that, kids? Next-generation systems. Woo hoo! Now, mind, you, Pandemic has been goofing around with the guts of the PlayStation 3 for a while now. As we outlined in our preview of the game, Mercenaries 2: World in Flames has been a PS3-focused project (and still without an effing publisher; get on it, stupid publishers!) for months now.

The expansion can only mean good things for future entries in to of course familiar franchises, but we're hoping to see a little sum-sum that's new from the comedic minds and programming talents of one of Down Under's best development houses. See? Cliches!
