Acclaim Entertainment Inc. announced this week that the sequel to their hit BMX title, Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX is in the works for the PlayStation 2 and other various consoles.
Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 will be the first ever game of its kind to feature a ten time World Champion and 11 time X-Games medallist Dave Mirra, alongside the 2000 Summer X-Games Champion Ryan Nyquist. As implemented in the first game, gamers will once again be able to select from the top BMX pros in the industry.
Players will have the added benefit of creating their own rider, and choosing their own sponsors. Players will be able to compete in a wide variety of challenges in order to further progress throughout the game. The ultimate goal for each player will be to dethrone Dave Mirra and claim the top position as a BMX rider.
Eight new fully interactive game environments, now four times as large as before, will be included along with integrated traffic systems with moving vehicles, fellow riders and pedestrians. More than 1,500 tricks will be made possible in this title. Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 will also come complete with 10 different multiplayer games and a brand new soundtrack.
Steve Falsen, Director of Brand Management for Acclaim stated the following today:
[blockquote]"This is a great extension of the Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX brand. This raises the bar for extreme sports games of any kind as the gamer can literally create his own experience using our new custom Rider and Park editors and the hugely successful trick modifier from the first game."[/blockquote]Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 which will be developed by Z-Axis, will be arriving this Fall 2001 for the PlayStation 2.
