More Praise for Darkwatch

See? It doesn’t matter if we didn’t really like the game, everyone else certainly seems to.

Those High Moon Studios folks are certainly good at alerting us press types when they’ve received another award. Last month, they finally nabbed a Workplace Excellence Award from San Diego’s Society for Human Resource Management, and this month, it’s more recognition for the admittedly awesome trailer for Darkwatch that we geeked on almost three months ago to the day.

The CG trailer, created by Brain Zoo Studios, sets up the whole world that outlaw-turned-vampire Jericho Cross finds himself in after unleashing a centuries-old vampire. It’s full of lots of fancy effects and spooo-o-o-ky monsters, and clearly looks good enough that more than a few people felt the need to decorate the production team with more than just pats on the back.

It is an awesome trailer, though, and if you haven’t seen it yet, definitely take a look. Not surprisingly, with something as cool as this, it isn’t the first time the clip has been recognized for its awesomenicity. As we reported those three months ago, the trailer took home not one but two Aurora Awards for "Best of Show: Use of Animation" and "Best of Show: Entertainment."

“When we were creating this project and working with High Moon Studios, we knew we had something very unique and special,” explains Mohammad Davoudian, Brain Zoo’s president and CEO. “Working closely with them over the past two years on this project has been amazing. The success of this game and the success of the marketing tools surrounding it are a testament to the vision and drive of everyone at High Moon. We are proud to have been a part of such a groundbreaking achievement.”

“We have always called this video for Darkwatch our promise trailer, one we designed to establish everything from premise to game mechanics that we believed was going to set the game apart,” added Emmanuel Valdez, chief creative officer of High Moon Studios. “There was a large amount of hard work put into this video by everyone involved, and we are excited to see it recognized again by a prestigious award committee.”

So what are you waiting for? Go check out the trailer if you haven’t already and see what all the hubbub’s about, bub.
