Recruiting Characters

In order to gain the favor of character you must perform a certain task or favor for that character. (You rub my back, I'll rub yours). Below is an example of how to get a character to join you.

Getting Adel

You can get Adel to join your group by giving her a HUNK OF COPPER, THICK HIDE, and a STURDY CLOTH. All of these items can be found on the train in Conda. After retrieving these items you must give them to let her make you a brand new outfit. Leave. When you return she will join you automatically without even asking you a question. Adel can be found in the Servant's Room at Max's House.

Blocking

Just like its predecessor, blocking is very important in this sequel developed by Level Five. Later in the game if you miss one block you will have to begin that dungeon over again.

Switching Characters

Remember when in battle to switch characters when one particular character is low on energy. Without ruining the game remember that Monica will be very useful later in the game. Her abilities include shooting projectiles and shape-shifting into enemy forms.

Steve

Although he is a robot, which you acquire early in the game, you must treat him as a weapon. You will need to use repair powder to rejuvenate his weapons and use them to gain experience just like other weapons in the game. You can switch him on to fly by pushing the right analog stick. You will find him very useful in the dungeons and later on in the game when facing tougher opponents.

Pictures

You can take pictures at various locations in the game and place the pictures in a new idea card to make an invention. For instance a picture of milk cans, a belt, and a metal pipe will develop the idea for a power pack. Once you have thought up the idea you will need to buy and or find the necessary raw materials to build that particular object. Remember a group of pictures will not always make a credible idea. Some ideas/inventions are useless and should be discarded

Repairing Weapons

One difference between the sequel and the original Dark Cloud is that the endurance of your weapons fades less quickly. Which means when you use a certain weapon to attack you don't have to use repair powder frequently. But, it is still a good idea to use repair powder and rejuvenate your weapons for opponents later in the game. A weapon with low endurance will hurt you later in the game. Their is also an abundance of repair powder found in the game (compared to the original Dark Cloud). It is advisable to make good use of it.

Town Building

In the original Dark Cloud you needed to find spheres (that contained parts of towns) inside the dungeons to rebuild the Lost City. In Dark Cloud 2 you must find special ores randomly placed inside the dungeons. Once these ores have been acquired you must feed them to your town-building robot ship and it will tell you which parts of a town you can make with that particular ore.

Getting easy items

Go around and get more people to put on the train and go on the train and make them join your party. You will be available to make things such as Cheese, Roasted Chicken and Improved Bombs.

Elements in the Butterfly Forest

Before going to the level (Butterfly Forest push Triangle to see which elements you can find there.

Every costumes

Finish playing through the game getting costumes for Max And Monica, then start a new game. You can now pick from any costume you previously collected for Max and Monica.

Skipping bombs

Throw a bomb in water and it will skip.

Barrel Cannon III

Barrel ,Water Tank, and Waterfall will create the Barrel Cannon III.

Easy photos

Spin around the room or area you are in to find all the photos you need.

Borneo and Erik

Borneo and Erik become available to move into the houses you build in the Georama area in chapter 5.

Cedric

As the game progresses, Cedric begins to get more parts for the Ridepod in every new chapter.

Corinne

Play a game and Hide and Seek with her. Find her both times, and she joins you. She is in Max's room and the upper hall in Claire's house.

Donny

You need to buy an Indestructible and Dark Coin. Give them to Donny and he will join you.

Ferdinand

To recruit Ferdinand, you must help him complete his recipe by giving him a Roasted Chestnut.

Gerald

If you remember correctly, Max's Dad gives Max a gun. Level this gun up twice into the Bell Gun. Max's Dad should join you after returning the gun to him.

The Mayor

Enter City Hall and go upstairs. Talk to the Mayor. He will need a code for his safe. The code is "1221".

Mina

Talk to Mina and she will say that she is feeling sick. This will start several rounds of Spheda. Compete in ten rounds of Spheda.

Olivie

Finish in first place in any of the classes of the Finny Frenzy.

Pau

To get Pau, all you have to do is give him a carrot. He can be found in Vennicco during Chapter 5.

Monica's magical blocking

Find a Gemron or Gundron and block its projectile. A screen will appear, telling you how to do Monica's magic absorb attack.

Low sword value

Try to sell the sword Seventh Heaven at the Wise Owl shop to learn that it is only worth 1 Gilda.

Fishing for Giant Kaji

Fish at the location where the Shigura were at using the Lure Rod and the Minnow.

Fish stats

The explanations below for stats are useful when you are trying to win the Finny Festival or Fish Races. Tenacity: Determines how badly the fish will try to win. It increases by 1 point when a fish is fed a Prickly. Stamina: Determines how fast your fish can go. It increases by 1 point when a fish is feed a Evy. Endurance: Determines how long your fish can stay at its top speed. It increases by 1 point when a fish is feed a Petit Fish. Boost: Determines how fast your fish will start off at the beginning of the race. It increases by 1 point when a fish is feed a Carrot. but the gender of your fish will change Power: This stat does not affect races. It is a stat used the Battle Tank. Weight and Length: These two stats do not appear to affect how your fish will do in the race.

Aquatic: Toss gift capsule filled with 3 Batton at a Froggy. Beast: Toss gift capsule filled with 3 Cheese at a Sewer Rat. Card: Toss gift capsule filled with 3 Dimonds at a Dimond Card. Darkling: Toss gift capsule filled with 3 Gold Bars at a Spider Lady. Flora: Bought at Jurak Mall. Magical: Toss gift capsule filled with 3 Sturdy Rock at a Statue. Moon: Received from Donny. Reptile: Toss gift capsule filled with 3 Wind Element at a Wing Gemron. Spirit: Toss gift capsule filled with 3 Gooey Peach at a Pixie. Sun: Received From Donny. Undead: Attack a Skeleton Soldier with Holy Water. Windup: Attack a Bomber Head with Bomb.
