Hey Kids! Flail Around Like a Fool and Pay for It!
DDR, meet 24 Hour Fitness’ Kids’ Club program.

Someone at Konami is a very, very good salesperson. Their latest partnership is one of the biggest steps towards mass market exposure we’ve seen in a long time – and we’ve seen publishers try to get their games on gravestones and have their kids named “Turok”. The very notion that soon kids all over the country will be jumping up and down to j-pop and licensed dance music is amazing in and of itself.
See, 24 Hour Fitness has struck a deal with Konami to use Dance Dance Revolution games in the fitness club’s Kids’ Club sessions. We’re not sure which version of the game they’re using (though with the PS2 one already out, that’s our guess), but both the PS2 version released earlier this week and the Xbox sequel headed to stores next month will both offer a free 30 day trial to get peeps into the gym.
"Bringing the health and fitness benefits of DDR to 24 Hour Fitness is an unbeatable combination in helping kids and adults stay in shape while having fun," exclaimed Clara Gilbert, Director of Business Partnerships at Konami. “By placing DDR in 24 Hour Fitness locations we strive to help kids and adults achieve their fitness goals in an unintimidating and fun way.”
Hey, we’re all for some good cardio, and we don’t mind free trials, but it does remain to be seen if this will catch on. 24 Hour Fitness has pledged to sell the partnership to employees and customers, so we’ll just have to sit back and wait for the outcome. Remember, though, it’s not cool to snicker while you watch if you won’t get in and do it yourself.
