[Shipping Out] November 20th
The tidal wave ebbs a little.
Published: November 20, 2007
Welcome to Shipping Out, our weekly notice of all them thar games that ship from publishers to retailers in preparation for their street date a day later. In many cases, these games won't be on store shelves until tomorrow, but in the interest of getting the word out, letting the PR departments have their fancy quotes and saving us sanity as the weekly releases pile up, we're going to be consolidating everything down into one handy little news story at the end of the day, along with this description. Neat, eh? And lazy!
It's the TPS way.
[PlayStation 2]
[Cabela's Monster Bass]
Well, lessee... Value title (it's $30) released by Activision Value with the Cabela's name attached and it involves... fishing. Yep, it'll sell like crazy to the Wal-Mart crowd and we'll be stuck wondering how the hell it's even possible. Oh, wait, maybe David Oxford from Activision can help!
“Cabela’s is one of the most recognized names in the fishing world, and we are excited to deliver the first Cabela’s fishing game to the masses,” Oxford explains. “Bass fishing continues to grow in popularity, and we’re confident players will get a huge adrenaline rush as they travel to the top fishing spots in North America to put their angling skills to the test by hooking into a prized monster bass.”
Oh, okay.
[College Hoops 2K8]
Need a college basketball fix? Cool, 2K Sports has gotcha covered. Design your own plays, pass the ball in all new ways, discover a new way to train and check out totally rebuilt mascots, schools and the places they play! Rhyming! Greg Thomas! Quote!
“College Hoops 2K8 is the most authentic and exciting college basketball game to date,” reads Greg Thomas, President of Visual Concepts, a 2K Sports studio. “This year we introduced our most extensive and innovative feature set yet with additions that will both thrill the hardcore gamer and entice the casual gamer.”
[Phantasy Star Universe: Ambition of the Illuminus]
Well hot damn, the first big expansion for SEGA's PS2 edition of the Phantasy Star online saga has arrived. Or, uh, the first expansion since we started doing this whole [ShippingOut] thing (yes, the brackets are super important) anyway. Shell out for the expansion and you can jump back into the game, experiencing the Gurhal System and the many quests and online buddies and all new storyline bits that you can handle. And maybe some that you can't.
[Star Trek: Conquest]
Okay, we'll admit it: the last Star Trek PS2 game didn't exactly blow us away. In fact, it bored us away from playing for any extended amount of time, but with a renewed approach that blends Risk style territory control, light RPG elements and some rather swanky graphics, this could actually end up being the first good Star Trek game... well, ever? And hey, it's only $15!
[PlayStation Portable]
Sorry, PSP owners, nothing on our radar this week.
[PlayStation 3]
[College Hoops 2K8]
Yep, it's the PS3 version of that same game you saw up above there. Good detective work, buddy boy.
[Rock Band]
IT'S HERE OH GOD ITS HERE AND OUR LIVES WILL NEVER BE THE SAME! Stop reading. Go buy this game. Die happy. The end.

Now, you don't have to; you can grab the stand-alone release, install it and you're good to go for another 30 hours. Thanks, Bethesda!
