Darkness Falls

What’s with us and the references these days? That one applies to the new Castlevania game shelving, we’ll have you know!

Ok, Halloween’s over and done with and the spooks and chills that are so often associated with our favorite ghastly holiday will just have to wait until next year… or will they? “I think not!”, says a defiant Konami (that company bellows in a mean tenor, take it from us), who has succeeded Halloween with an oh-so-timely release of Castlevania: Curse of Darkness, producer Koji Igarashi’s latest effort in the famed franchise.

Castlevania: Curse of Darkness tells a captivating tale of betrayal and revenge. However, in an interesting twist, this installment does not purely focus on the struggle between the Belmonts and Dracula, but instead concentrates on two new characters from Dracula’s inner sanctum,” alludes Matt Knoles, Product Manager, Konami Digital Entertainment- America. “This story shift has given the series new dimension and has allowed the development team to add incredible new gameplay features and character abilities that have never been seen before in the Castlevania series.”

We would’ve gone into the thickness of CoD’s story, but Matt there just had to leave you with a cliffhanger. What we will tell you is that this Castlevania game sports some stunning graphics and special effects galore. Aurally, composer Michiru Yamane tears it up with an original musical score, and even renowned opera tenor Russell Watson lent his voice to the soundtrack. You’ve got some competition, Konami…

The curse has already leaked to retail, but no matter how much you insist to the sales associate that “the fate of humanity” lies in you getting this game home as soon as possible, it won’t get you out of having to pay up with fifty green ones. Trust us, we’ve tried.
