Graeme Revell and Activision Make Beautiful Music

True story, up until like a year ago, Sam thought his name was pronounced "gray-me"!

In the epic clash of the huge-budget World War II shooter, there can be only one massive expenditure of money to ensure a Hollywood-quality soundtrack. The gauntlet has been thrown by SoCal moneybags Activision in a direct nyah-nyah to NorCal cash funnel EA. Only one epically scored first-person shooter can survive.

Activision says it's going to be Call of Duty: Big Red One, and they've recruited the talents of Kiwi composer Graeme Revell to do it. The maestro behind the scores for movies like Pitch Black, The Crow and The Negotiator will pen a aural backdrop for the no-doubt epic goings-on in the upcoming console and PC versions of the big A's popular WWII shooter.

The composer will write and perform his pieces with a live orchestra, no doubt stringing together some tense little ditties to help complement the copious amounts of digital emotion developer Treyarch is crafting for the second COD console outing. It should be the latest bullet point on an already impressive career, one that stretches back a mere 16 years, but already includes over 80 TV and film projects.

We'll have to take a listen to some of the finished compositions as soon as they're available, and since you've asked so nicely (yes, we can hear you -- and see you, put on some freakin' pants, man), we'll make sure to pay extra attention to the ebbing and swelling strings in between dodging headshots from a sniper. We do it because we love you!
