EA Likes to Blow $#!^ Up

Yeah, we thought we were clever when we used those symbols yesterday, what of it?

Forget that "12 Days of Christmas" bull hockey, you want something where a new object is peppered with high-caliber rounds until it's either swiss cheese or blown halfway to JesusVille, right? Right? 'Course ya do! It's the only right and proper way to celebrate something like BLACK (yes, with the all caps, it's key) finally hitting stores.

At first we thought, "oh, what a cute little marketing stunt" but then we saw the guys that were actually firing the weapons for this whole "5 Days of Guncraft" thing and realized they probably just parachuted out somewhere over Redwood City, then came rappelling down through a skylight and held everyone up at gunpoint until EA agreed to allow them to fire increasingly destructive weapons at objects out in the Nevada desert.

On the plus side, you can see how Criterion's ballistics modeling and atmosphere were copied part and parcel from the kind of destructive power and accuracy that the weapons have in real life. In short, it's a little like seeing what going ape in BLACK is like, without actually playing the game. Of course, we are playing the game, all in the hopes of continuing to bring you up-to-date news and reviews... all a couple weeks late. It's the TPS difference!

Starting Monday (yes, last Monday, we just heard about it for the first time today) and going for the next -- yes, very good, five days -- the event will show off different weapons making different targets go boom. Head on over to the official BLACK web site and click on the "5 Days of Guncraft" link to the left to see day after day of sweet, sweet destruction.
