It’s a gloomy day at retailers. Heck, we might even call it BLACK.

Somehow, we get the feeling this is a game that needs no introduction. We’ve been gloating about this trigger-happy bulletfest for weeks now (which even EA is now calling “gun porn”), and finally, the day upon us where we can utter the words: BLACK is out.

“Guns are loud, exhilarating and utterly terrifying things,” blurted Alex Ward, creative director, Criterion Games. “BLACK delivers a deep shooting experience that captures the paralyzing sensation of pulling the trigger of dangerous and exotic automatic weapons.”

For an idea inspired from a trip to a Las Vegas gun range, BLACK quite positively looks to capture the thrill of firing such “utterly terrifying things.” It’s something Sgt. First Class Jack Kellar will be doing plenty of, as word of a traitor among his Black Operations team has brought the squad leader to Eastern Europe, with instructions to simply take out the threat.

Criterion (and for final clarification: yes, the Burnout team) urges players to become a master of cover exploitation, and more importantly, their surroundings, for even if every bullet isn’t piercing the opposition, it may be deteriorating a nearby portion environmental (say, a roof or scaffolding), making for a pretty clever way of enemy disposal.

BLACK is currently tearin’ up shelves with an eye-catching $39.95 price tag but a cautionary “M” rating. Not something for the kiddies, but adults, consider this a field day.
