Ah, Monday nights. Nine o’clock, for one solid hour, you too can enjoy what’s arguably the best show on television, 24. The only show out there told in real time and the only show I like to call the “Jack Bauer Power Hour” is coming to a Playstation near you this fall. Coming straight from Sony Computer Entertainment Europe’s Cambridge Studios comes 24:The Game. With its ever increasing popularity, 24 is easily at the top of the charts every week when it comes to Nielson Ratings. And when something becomes popular, what happens next? Why it becomes a video game, of course!

For those that don’t know 24 is a show that centers around the exploits of a L.A. CTU (Counter Terrorist Unit) agent, named Jack Bauer. Each season of 24 is 24 episodes long, all of which takes place in a single day. Thus, because the show is told in real time, each episode of the show is one hour of that day.

The game takes place between seasons 2 and 3 of the television series and answers some of the questions that the television series never quite answered. How did Chase Edmunds and Jack Bauer end up working together? How did Kim Bauer, of all people, end up with a job at CTU? And who ran the country when President Palmer was recovering from his assassination attempt? Ok, ok, so licensed properties tend to be at the bottom of the “less than crap meter” in the gaming world, but 24 truly has a lot of potential. The script is even being penned by one of the show’s writers, Duppy Demetrius. 24:The Game will also feature the likenesses and voices of the entire 24 cast, including Keifer Sutherland as the man himself, Jack Bauer. Trust me, I’d pit him against Sam Fisher or Solid Snake anyday.

The show lends itself very well to an action game, but SCEE’s Cambridge Studios is bringing us more than just mindless shooting. Expect over 100 missions of shooting, stealth, puzzle solving, and some intense vehicle chases. 24 will also intricate interrogations and satellite image viewing into gameplay, and if you’ve seen the show, you know the interrogation aren’t going to be pretty.

It appears 24:The Game’s production values are going to be sky high. Here’s to hoping the game will be two. Keep it here for more info in the coming months.
