Rocket Racing

Do it Sideways

Rocket Racing is on PSN. I almost said it drifted onto PSN, but that would be a terrible strapline.

Developer Halfbrick Studios is going buck wild with PlayStation Minis, and this week saw the release of their Rocket Racing, a futuristic racing game that's all about drifting around turns and "grinding" by directing your rockets in the wall for extra boost.

For $4.99 you get 24 tracks that you can zip around on in Grand Prix, Challenge and Quick Race events. Grand Prix and Quick Race are fairly self-explanatory, but Challenge mode offers a variety of specific tasks with unique rules. There is also Party Mode, which is a hotseat multiplayer mode that lets players set victory conditions based on time, total score or the longest single grind.

Rocket Racing has a slick artwork style, and smooth ship movement, as you can see in the trailer. If that isn't enough for you, feast your eyes on this big sweaty pile of screenshots. As is the case with all Minis, you can play Rocket Racing on a PSP or a PS3.
