2K Sports Takes the Field with Major League Baseball 2K10
Virtual Pitchers and Catchers report!
Published: March 2, 2010
Well, it's almost that time of year again when I can happily start ignoring baseball (sorry guys, you never should have cancelled the 1994 World Series), and also ignoring the releases of the new season of baseball games! Of course, we here at TPS know that many of you aren't enlightened enough to have switched allegiances to the hardwood courts of the cagers (basketball, for those of you lacking in your sports history... basketball used to have such rowdy fans that the courts had to be enclosed in cages like some sort of WWE event), so we are happy to report that this years crop of baseball games pounds on last years entries like a bag of rosin in the mitts of Turk Wendell (real baseball fans know what I am talking about here). As usual, the competition is fierce, but 2K is stepping up to the plate (pun intended) with MLB2K10.
Marking the 10th anniversary of the franchise and featuring cover athlete and All-Star third baseman, Evan Longoria of the Tampa Bay Rays, Major League Baseball 2K10 will highlight the intense battle between pitchers and hitters like never before. (For those of you who are wondering and are Desperate Housewives fans, that was not a typo, and Evan and Eva Longoria are not related).
"We have supreme confidence in the vast improvement of Major League Baseball 2K10 this season," said Greg Thomas, senior vice president of sports development for 2K. "With the all-new My Player career mode and integration of MLB Today, along with our retooled pitching and hitting mechanics, we aren't holding anything back. We're also incredibly excited about rewarding one lucky fan with a million dollars for pitching a perfect game."
From the mound to the plate, Major League Baseball 2K10 will give fans the ability to paint the corners with Total Control Pitching, and to work the count with Total Control Hitting, featuring an all-new defensive swing mechanic to foul off pitches. With the integration of MLB Today, gamers will now be delivered real-time results, standings, news and stats to ensure timely commentary that reflects what's actually going on in Major League Baseball. Fans can also become a living legend with the all-new My Player career mode by creating a player, choosing a team and playing their way from a Double-A Minor LeagueTM team into the Hall of FameĀ®. Additionally, popular baseball analyst John Kruk will join the team to provide more in-depth commentary, giving Major League Baseball 2K10 the first ever three-man broadcast booth in a baseball video game.
