Still beat out by Miley Cyrus this week, but game music has a longer shelf life than 4 or 5 porn--riddled years anyways.

Following a sold-out Comic-Con performance, Video Games Live - Volume One debuted at #10 on the Billboard charts. Tommy Tallarico, who you may know as a game music composer and occasional abrasive game reviewer from the old days of Tech TV/G4, the mastermind behind the project, is understandably very happy. "What a fantastic honor for us and the entire game industry," he said while rolling around in a big pile of money and laughing at your garage band.

The album itself has been getting rave reviews, as have the concert series. It has a diverse array of game tracks, from Tetris to Kingdom Hearts, so everyone can find something to love here. Video game music has consistently shown that it can be awesome, thanks to composers like Yatsunori Mutsida or Nobuo Uematsu, or even underground heroes like the folks over at OverClocked Remix. At least, it's been a long way forward from that Eiffel 65 song about PlayStation games that I secretly liked on the inside but had to posture against so I could maintain my rule as the leader of the Greasers. We ruled the streets with dance, we did.
