System 3 will be putting out its first set of downloadable contact for Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli for the PlayStation 3 come August. The content patch is set to add 16 real world circuits and five brand new cars to the mix that can be downloaded either as a set or individually via the PlayStation Network. A PlayStation 2 release of the game will see the light of day later this summer.

With tracks like the 5.2km Nürburgring F1 Strecke, said to be one of the most dangerous racetracks in the world, making an appearance, it's only fitting that a suite of jaw dropping vehicles round out the package. Included in the content pack are the Ferrari Enzo, a Formula 1 technology car named after Ferrari's founder, Enzo Ferrari; F430 Spider, a mid-mounted engine Ferrari that's as sleek as they come; P4/5, a custom designed Pininfarina car with butterfly doors and the capability to travel at speeds of 160 mph with no wind noise; 612 Scaglietti, a four seater Ferrari, a rarity among the Ferrari line; and the 599 GTB Fiorano, Ferrari's flagship Gran Turismo model that was named after both the engine displacement and Ferrari's world famous test track.

“To compliment an already huge array of Ferraris on offer in Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli, we’ve hand-picked the most sought after models to launch our first downloadable content pack,” said Mark Cale, CEO, System 3. “We’re pleased to give the community another world class race track on which to race these fantastic cars. We’re not planning on stopping there, with more downloadable content packs to be announced shortly, cementing Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli as the most feature packed simulation available for PlayStation 3.”

Seems like a decent first effort for Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli. Hopefully System 3 can followup with more cars, more tracks, and more modes.
