Ivy!
Published: July 15, 2008
Soulcalibur IV has gone gold! And it will be available on July 29th! That gives you two weeks to hone your combat skills before you're thrown to the wolves yet again.
If you're a fan, you know what you're getting into, but if you've never experienced a Soulcalibur before, then you may be at a lose as to why this is such a monumental release. The weapons-based fighting game that has its share of rabid followers will hit the PlayStation 3 with an expanded roster of warriors, many of which are returning favorites, as the warriors search for the Soul Edge and Soulcalibur swords.
There are even special characters included in the game, these ones hailing from the Star Wars franchise. Darth Vader makes his appearance in the PlayStation 3 version of the game (Xbox 360 owners will have the chance to unlock Master Yoda), while Darth Vader's Secret Apprentice from LucasArt's Star Wars: The Force Unleased also joins the fray. There is even a suite of special characters designed by famous Japanese manga artists and character designers.
The fighting engine has been retooled for added depth and versatility. Combatants can destroy protective armor, which can lead to Critical Finish moves that defeat opponents in a single blow. Online play has also been included for the first time ever.
Soulcalibur IV will carry a suggested price of $59.99 for the standard version and a $79.99 for the limited Premium Edition of the game. But if you're a fan, you already know which version you're getting. Look for it on July 29th.
