A decisive victory for Microsoft sends PlayStation exclusivity fans reeling.

Today, Square Enix dropped a bombshell that is sure to stun many PlayStation 3 owners: Final Fantasy XIII will see a multi-platform release on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. At the end of Microsoft's E3 conference, Square Enix President Yoichi Wada walked back onstage to show off a new trailer of the game with the tag "Available on Xbox 360 at launch in North America and Europe." The announcement could be felt reverberating throughout the E3 halls.

No new footage was shown but this does confirm that next-generation has made even the biggest, cash-cow franchises go multi-platform if they hope to survive.
We'll have more on this story as we learn more.
