Drumming your way to fame.

The originator of what would eventually become the entire collective music-based game genre is stepping back into the arena, this time with a brand new game that they hope will carve its own niche in the space. Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. announced Rock Revolution, a rhythm game that uses a drum peripheral instead of the guitars or floor mats that Konami has done before.
Rock Band might have done it first, but Konami is hoping to do it better with Rock Revolution. Slated for the PlayStation 3 this fall, Rock Revolution is said to offer an extensive music selection on the disc, with more content available via PlayStation Network on launch day. Unfortunately, details are a bit slim at the moment, so we'll have to wait for the set lists to see if Konami is good on their word.
"Rock Revolution will be the most innovative and realistic rock game to hit the market, that will provide a quality drum peripheral and music that players will appreciate," said Anthony Crouts, Vice President of Marketing for Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. "As the originator of music-based games, we are dedicated to bringing fans a truly preeminent music experience. With Rock Revolution, we put the emphasis on the drum kit, delivering an experience unlike any other."
Playing catch up is a hard thing to do, but the biggest draw to a game like Rock Band was the drums, so we'll have to wait and see if Konami's Rock Revolution will have the same draw. If anything, the genre is getting loads of good games, so gamers can no longer complain.
