Silent Hill: Homecoming Arrives in Europe in September

Don't play this one with the lights off.

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH is bringing Silent Hill: Homecoming on the PlayStation 3 to Europe this September.

The sixth installment of what can only be described as one of the scariest series ever released, Silent Hill: Homecoming gives us yet another protagonist in a long running line of crazy folks who just don't know when enough is enough. Players take the role of Alex Shepherd, a man returning to his hometown of Shepherd's Glen after the mysterious disappearance of his brother. Alex must face some of the darkest horrors he's ever experience on his way from Shepherd's Glen to Silent Hill in search of his sibling. Even then, there's no guarantee that he'll find what he's searching for.

Silent Hill: Homecoming is the first title to hit the next-gen consoles, so the terror factor will more than quadruple thanks to a more powerful engine and creepier sound effects. Tons of crazed zombie-like creatures will plod out of the darkness towards the player, scraping, moaning, and rattling with lungs that resemble deflated balloons in the sharpest detail the series has ever presented. By solving puzzles and battling horrific monsters, Alex will learn about Silent Hill's past and what it means for his future, if there's a future to be had. All of this accompanied by a score from series composer Akira Yamaoka. I get chills just thinking about it.

Look for this one in September, Europe.
