Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe Announced
No, I'm not making this up.

When I was a kid and Mortal Kombat was the greatest fighting game on the market, everyone used to talk about fake fighting game mash-ups, such as Liu Kang versus Ryu of Street Fighter. But when we ran out of fodder between fighting game franchises, we turned to other things: Liu Kang versus Indiana Jones, Johnny Cage versus Link, and so on and so forth. Eventually, though, comic books entered the equation and the question was asked: “Who would win in a fight, Scorpion or Batman?”
Years later, Midway Games Inc. has the game that will finally answer that long asked question: Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. Licensed from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and developed and published by Midway Games Inc., Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe throws some of the greatest heroes and villains ever conceived into one gigantic orgy of entertainment. Whatever the story, it doesn't matter, and whatever the reason for these two universes colliding is meaningless. All that is important is that Batman and Scorpion will finally have a chance to face off and answer our questions once and for all.
"It is a truly unique and extremely exciting effort to be teaming up with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Comics for the first Mortal Kombat game on next generation platforms," said Ed Boon, co-creator and executive producer for Mortal Kombat at Midway Amusement Games. "The DC Universe characters are some of the most popular and enduring characters in the world. By combining them with the Mortal Kombat mythology, all new gameplay modes and features, plus a completely unique storyline crafted by top comic writers, players will now be able to answer the question: what would happen if Batman fought Sub Zero?"
Sub Zero? We don't care about no stinkin' Sub Zero. We want to know what would happen with Batman and Scorpion!
"Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe will provide a wide audience of fans and gamers match-ups of their favorite characters in battles like they've never experienced before," said Scott Johnson, Vice President, Business Development for Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. "Midway's new Mortal Kombat gameplay paired with DC Comics' popular characters will offer players a multitude of combat options and incredible face offs."
Unfortunately, besides the name and a brief trailer, we don't know much else about the game. There will be the inclusion of a new Freefall Kombat and Klose Kombat fighting system, along with multi-tiered environments, but that's the extent of our knowledge. Details are being kept under wraps at the moment, but since the game is slated to release this Fall, we should be getting more information in the next few months. I can't wait!
