PlayStation 3 system owners, Sony Computer Entertainment America will begin answering prayers on April 15th, 2008. Why, you ask? Oh, a little something called PlayStation 3 system update v. 2.30, that's why. And as previously announced, the PlayStation 3 system update will add DTS-HD Master Audio and DTS-HD High Resolution Audio, enabling owners to enjoy Blu-ray Disc movies with the highest level of audio quality imaginable. The PlayStation 3 system update will also open up the brand new PlayStation Store, which is certain to make your head spin in all kinds of Exorcist ways.

So what is DTS-HD Master Audio and DTS-HD High Resolution Audio exactly? Well, it's just the latest in a line of great technologies Sony's bringing to PlayStation 3 owners. To match the crisp visuals that the PlayStation 3 outputs while via Blu-ray Disc movies, DTS-HD Master Audio gives audio tracks that little bit of 'umph' that every audiophile demands from his equipment. Delivering audio at the variable bit rate of 24.5 megabits per second (Mbps) on Blu-ray Disc, you'll hear everything you've been missing with DVDs. And since DTS-HD Master Audio can also output in 7.1 audio at 96k sampling frequency, there's no reason not to use it!

And DTS, Inc., the company that's made this great technology, has also created DTS-HD High Resolution Audio, a codec that lets content creators use less space on the Blu-ray Disc while still maintaining a high quality audio stream. DTS-HD High Resolution Audio streams from the Blu-ray Disc at a constant bit rate of 6.0 Mbps and is also capable of 7.1 audio channels at 96k sampling frequency.

Of course, all of this pales in light of the new PlayStation Store! The latest system software update will let users access the new PlayStation Store, with its more dynamic interface and enhanced navigation. The update moves the PlayStation Store from the online storefront that it is now to a new application that's native to the PlayStation 3 system hardware itself, letting customers more easily and quickly locate, purchase, and download games, demos, videos, and even Blu-ray Disc movie trailers.

Excited yet? April 15th can't come soon enough!
