Metal Gear Online Public Beta Test

Konami Digital Entertainment announced plans for its upcoming public beta test program for Metal Gear Online in Europe. The downloadable beta will go up on the revamped PlayStation Store on April 17th, with the actual test running from April 21st through May 6th.
Metal Gear Online is an all-new Metal Gear title that will be released with Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots on June 12th. The beta lets players jump right in and sample a bit of the multiplayer action in two cooperative team-based maps called Blood Bath and Groznyi Grad. When the game actually goes live, however, there will be five maps in the Starter Pack: Ambush Alley, which is an arena built using trenches and sandbags; Blood Bath, a two tier battle setting; Groznyi Grad, the Shagohod complex from Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, complete with human catapults; Midtown Maelstrom, a dusty, Middle Eastern stage that is found in Guns of the Patriots; and Urban Ultimatum, which is full of rooftops to be exploited. Additional expansion packs will be released throughout the year.
Metal Gear Online lets 16 players take to the action simultaneously, using the same engine that can be found in Konami's upcoming Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Different challenges await, forcing players to use their cunning and stealth to outwit their opponents. Five game modes are also included: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture and Base, and Sneaking missions.
MGO is looking to be the next iteration of the franchise. As long as Konami is committed to filling it out, only good things can be said about it.
