SouthPeak Games Gets Serious: Launches X-Blades Website

Whoa, who would've thought that they were actually going to make the hack-n-slash to end all hack-n-slash?

It looks like SouthPeak Games is serious about this X-Blades thing. In fact, they went as far as to open up a new X-Blades website at www.x-blades.com.

Taking the “scantily clad sex symbol” mantra and running with it, SouthPeak Games' X-Blades stars Ayumi, a young relic hunter who is searching for a mysterious artifact and a good wardrobe. Like any good relic hunter, she has pistol blades and mystical abilities, both of which she'll have to use if she wants to escape with her exposed flesh intact.

The website is solidly built with tons of information and some gorgeous looking screens. It's a little sparse in other departments, such as the videos, but for a newly launched site, it's not doing too bad for itself. There's also a ton going on in the borders, but that's the norm in this day and age.

There's no telling how X-Blades is shaping up as a game, since we know nothing of how it plays, but at least the website looks polished enough to warrant some attention. And for those wondering what SouthPeak Games is currently looking for, they have a news item on the site about fanart for X-Blades, where you can win a gift pack with games and merchandise. So even if X-Blades ends up being a bust, at least some artist somewhere can get a nice little prize out of the whole deal.

SouthPeak Games is hoping to have X-Blades ready for a fall 2008 release.
