[Shipping Out] March 19th, 2008
Metal Gear!
Published: March 19, 2008
Welcome to Shipping Out, our weekly notice of all them thar games that ship from publishers to retailers in preparation for their street date a day later. In many cases, these games won't be on store shelves until tomorrow, but in the interest of getting the word out, letting the PR departments have their fancy quotes and saving us sanity as the weekly releases pile up, we're going to be consolidating everything down into one handy little news story at the end of the day, along with this description. Neat, eh? And lazy!
[PlayStation 2]
[Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection]
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is on the way. There's only one problem: you've sold your PlayStation, PlayStation 2, and all of your games and you can't remember the storyline for the life of you. What's a fan to do? Buy another PlayStation 2 and get Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection, of course.
Featuring the original MGS, MGS2, and MGS3, players can get lost in the action all over again, this time with a commemorative package slathered in artwork by Yoji Shinkawa, the renowned Metal Gear Solid artist. Not to mention all of this weighs in at a measly $29.99. Don't believe me?
"The Metal Gear Solid series created a unique stealth action genre within videogames, and subsequently became one of the most popular game franchises in the world," said Anthony Crouts, Vice President of Marketing for Konami Digital Entertainment Inc. "Now gamers have the chance to experience the evolution of a groundbreaking series in one collectible package. Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection is an amazing value for gamers."
Do I really need to tell you anymore? Why aren't you already at the store?
[Samurai Warriors 2 Xtreme Legends]
Oh, KOEI, how we love your samurai games. Now you give us even more samurai action. As of today, Samurai Warriors 2 Xtreme Legends is available.
Xtreme Legends introduces six new characters to the series, a new mercenary mode, where players can hire other samurai to fight alongside them, and the ability to remix Samurai Warriors 2 with Xtreme Legend, providing even more content than ever before. Character levels have grown to 70, from their previous 50 cap, and charge attacks along with new weapons have been added to the game.
For those who haven't played any of the previous Samurai Warriors, now is a good time to get in on the action, since a 2-player Co-op mode makes the game even more fun. The game is rated “T” for teen.
[PlayStation 3]
[Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2]
If you've been holding your breath for the new installment of the long-running Rainbow Six series, the wait is over. You can now pick up Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 at a store near you for only $59.99.
As the follow up to the successful Rainbow Six Vegas, Vegas 2 throws players back into the city of sin where an escalating terrorist siege has brought the casinos to a standstill. There's more multiplayer, more customization, more co-op, better AI, and loads of new weapons and armor. Las Vegas has also been expanded, so players can visit the shady parts as well as the glam. Fans of the series won't be disappointed.
If you've been waiting for something to play on your PS3, Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is that game. What better way to spend an afternoon than capping terrorists from building tops?
