In what can be regarded as a bit of non-news, Sega is snatching up ex-Disney Interactive Studios and EA Sports veteran Sean Ratcliffe for its open Vice President of Marketing position. We could go on and on about Mr. Ratcliffe's accolades but what more is there to say other than he helped move product when it needed to be moved and and filled his previous employers' bank accounts nicely.
So here's what Sega has to say about their new VP of Marketing:
“Sean’s impressive accomplishments include managing the worldwide launch of hit titles like Harry Potter & The Sorcerer’s Stone, the multi-million unit-seller, as well as playing a key role in Disney Interactive’s impressive market share growth,” said Simon Jeffery, president and COO of Sega of America. “These achievements, coupled with his proven ability to work on a worldwide scale, make Sean a fantastic asset at a global company like SEGA.”
And Mr. Ratcliffe had some words, of course:
“The video game space is growing at an astounding rate, and SEGA is a company with positive momentum and some of the most enduring brands in the industry,” said Ratcliffe. “I look forward to helping SEGA’s dynamic and innovative teams in delivering great games to wide audiences.”
And that about shores it up. As long as Sega makes some quality products, they can do whatever they want. But product comes first, so let's see it happen guys.
