You've been waiting for it and now it's here: two new track packs for Guitar Hero III.

Dubbed the Modern Metal pack, players can now purchase and download the masters to Deftones' “Hole in the Earth”, Avenged Sevenfold's “Almost Easy” and Thrice's “The Arsonist”. This track pack is definitely for those who need something a little meatier pumping out of their 5.1 surround sound system. Hopefully the next track pack is titled “The Gauntlet” and features Cannibal Corpse, Napalm Death, and Nile.

Activision is also kicking off the St. Pattie's Day festivities with a free track pack of Dropkick Murphys' tunes available mid March. “Famous for Nothing,” “(F)lanningan's Ball” and “Johnny, I Hardly Knew Ya” flesh out the track pack, master recordings from the Dropkick Murphys sixth album, The Meanest of Times.

For those worried about the leanness of Guitar Hero's track packs, don't fret. Plenty has been added since the game's inception, including songs from Boston, Die Fantastischen Vier, Extremoduro, Foo Fighters, Journey and even Foreigner. A metal version of the Christmas carol “We Three Kings” by Steve Ouimette was also made avaiable as well as tracks by Linkin Park and The Used. There's no telling what future track packs will entail but if they decide to explore heavy, thrash, and speed metal, then speakers, and fingers, will explode across the globe.

Not that you need me to tell you, but it's about time you turn on your PS3 and get to downloading.
