Showtime's Dexter Headed to a Game Console Near You
When was the last time you played a really good licensed game? I thought so

Looks like Showtime Networks is trying to cash in on the “video game revolution” by licensing its Emmy and Golden Globe winning TV series “DEXTER” to Marc Ecko Entertainment for development. For those not in the loop, DEXTER is about Dexter Morgan, a forensic blood spatter expert for the Miami Dade Police Deparment who is also a vigilante serial killer.
"DEXTER is the extremely rare TV show with enough layers of action and tension to translate perfectly into a compelling videogame," said Marc Fernandez, Vice President of Marc Ecko Entertainment. "Our game designers, writers, and artists are going to give Dexter's morally complex world the kind of interactivity that gamers will love."
Marc Ecko Entertainment has handled the production side of 2005's Getting Up and is currently working on a project with Human Head, which is untitled and unknown. The Dexter game is currently in pre-production and Showtime and Marc Ecko are talking to developers to see which sacrificial lamb wants to put its name on this licensed product.
"DEXTER is one of the most popular shows on SHOWTIME with a particularly strong fan base among gamers. It's a very logical jump to create a game with the website IGN.com naming it 2007's 'Best Television Program'," said Len Fogge, Executive Vice President, Marketing, Digital Media and Research at Showtime Networks. "We're confident Marc Ecko Entertainment's team has the unique talents to take Dexter to the interactive space in the right way."
Unfortunately, Marc Ecko Entertainment's claim to fame are a family of clothing and magazine businesses that focus purely on the urban lifestyle and a video game that was universally panned. Of course, two years is a long time in the video game space and how this will equate to the current market and systems is anyone's guess.
