E3 is gone and with it so is the outlet where developers and publishers could show off their wares and discuss programming and design. Sure, there's places like CES, DICE, and what have you, but there's nothing like E3 when it comes to exposure. At least there wasn't anything like E3 until now.

Enter GDC. Sure, GDC is for game developers and is meant to be more of a workshop for the biggest names in the industry, but with the demise of E3, it looks like GDC will soon wear its once lofty crown.

More than 18,000 attendees careened into the GDC halls of the Moscone Center in San Francisco this year, bouncing off the walls as the biggest names in the industry showed off their products, attended panels, and gave loads of interviews. The five day spanning event had more than 400 different sessions and an expo and career pavilion with more than 300 exhibitors and sponsors. Did I mention that this year broke all previous years' records?

If you missed it this year, don't fret, GDC will be back in 2009 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco again between March 23rd and 27th. Maybe the conference will break the 20,000 mark. Let's make it happen.
