Kid friendly meets carnage in February

Welcome to Shipping Out, our weekly notice of all them thar games that ship from publishers to retailers in preparation for their street date a day later. In many cases, these games won't be on store shelves until tomorrow, but in the interest of getting the word out, letting the PR departments have their fancy quotes and saving us sanity as the weekly releases pile up, we're going to be consolidating everything down into one handy little news story at the end of the day, along with this description. Neat, eh? And lazy!


[PlayStation 2]

[Go, Diego, Go!: Safari Rescue]
Following on the heels of the successful Nick Jr show, 2K Play, in collaboration with Nickelodeon and High Voltage, are releasing Go, Diego, Go!: Safari Rescue for the PS2. Pre-schoolers will get the chance to play with the animals of the African wilds as they paint stripes on zebras, scare away lions with well-timed stomps, and jump with baby jaguar.

Parents can even join in the fun by using the Safari Guide Helper feature and collaborating with their children during the activities. What better way to teach, entertain, and bond with your child?

[Dora the Explorer: Dora Saves the Mermaids]
Can't get enough Dora? Neither can the rest of the world. In 2K Play, Totally Games, and Nickelodeon's newest game, Dora returns to help the languishing mermaid population retrieve the Magic Crown and bring it back to Marianna the Mermaid. Players will travel over tropical lands and dive down into the sea to complete the journey. Dora even magically becomes a mermaid herself during the quest. A must buy for any parent with a Dora loving tike.

[Jumper: Griffin's Story]
Brash Entertainment is going whole-hog with Jumper: Griffin's Story, a game based off the science-fiction thriller set to release on Thursday, February 14th, 2008.

In the film, starring Hayden Christensen, Rachel Bilson, Jamie Bell, and Samuel L. Jackson, Jumpers, people who are capable of teleporting to any location on earth instantaneously, battle against the Paladins, an organization set on eliminating them from the planet.

Jumper: Griffin's Story extends the storyline of Griffin, played by Jamie Bell in the movie, who is seeking revenge for his parents' death at the hands of the Paladins. Players will travel across the globe using their Jump ability to excel in hand-to-hand combat while using an engaging combo system to dish out devastating blows. Looks like a must buy for anyone who ever wanted to go anywhere they wanted to go anytime they wanted. Now if they'd just get around to making a good time traveling game.

[Dungeon Explorer]
Hudson Entertainment is bringing Dungeon Explorer: Warriors of Ancient Arts, a classic franchise that many an avid gamer might remember, to the PSP and Nintendo DS for only $29.99. Both games feature completely unique storylines and gameplay elements.

"We are thrilled to bring back a classic RPG franchise on current gen platforms," John Greiner President and CEO of Hudson Entertainment said of the games. "Both the PSP system and Nintendo DS games offer players two deep, action-packed RPG experiences that truly represent what the Dungeon Explorer property is all about." He wasn't kidding.

In the PSP adventure, players will find themselves on a quest to to uncover the fate of a legendary kingdom now lost to the ages. To accomplish this, players will get the chance to pick up hundreds of different arms to add to their arsenal, all of which will help them against the demonic hordes out to destroy them. Players will even get the chance to rework their weapons, adding a bit of personality to their signature moves.

Over 150 different kinds of fighting arts are available to players, including “Big Bang Arts”, only available in the PSP version of the game. To access the “Big Bang Arts”, three players must must team up in AD Hoc multiplayer mode, and unleash the devastating power with proper timing. It's been awhile since a great action-oriented game has graced any portable system. It's best to jump into this classic game sword first.

[PlayStation 3]

[Conflict: Denied Ops]
Conflict: Denied Ops, Eidos's tactical two man action game, is landing on store shelves for the PlayStation 3 today. Filled with ten levels of addictive, co-op FPS gameplay, the game puts the players in the role of two highly specialized operatives, as they race for freedom, with the ability to switch between teammates on the fly to take advantage of the terrain. Complete with single button commands to keep the player engaged in the action, Conflict: Denied Ops is a must purchase for those hungering for a new experience that is sure to blow you away, quite literally.
