Codies Racks Up Big Cash
38% annual growth? Sales in the US up 151%? Yeah, we'd say that's pretty good.

For the most part, we don't tend to focus too much on financials here at TPS, mainly because seeing other companies make money hand over fist while we wallow in the depths of small business despair, but we've got something of a soft spot for Codemasters for some strange reason, and we were so impressed by their sales numbers that we had to pass the word along.
It began a few years back by forming publishing and distribution partnerships, but establishing a dedicated US marketing department probably didn't hurt things either. Since then, and thanks to progress on future tech like the Sony Computer Entertainment Europe-aided Neon Engine used for both DiRT and the upcoming Operation Flashpoint 2, the company has managed to pump out a string of notable successes. Plus, y'know, DiRT was friggin' great.
“The company has never been in a better position to innovate and grow," beamed Codies CEO Rod Cousins. "Codemasters has the right team and the right technology to compete on a global scale in the interactive entertainment industry. Our results demonstrate that Codemasters is firing on all cylinders.”
Ah, yes, a car analogy. We'd try to provide as smooth a transition back into our commentary here, but we broke our heads just getting a DiRT reference in before that "cylinders" line. Instead, we'll just go the incredibly lazy route and paste in some of the bigger accomplishments from the company this year:
-Group sales up a record 38%, led by growth in North America
-Strong improvement in operating profits and cash flow
-332% growth in U.S. video game software dollar sales[1]
-Worldwide hits with Colin McRae: DiRT (just DiRT here in the States) and 360 XBLA download Overlord
-Continued expansion driven by strong pipeline of new original properties
-Proprietary game engine delivers improved development efficiency
-Codemasters named 2007 UK Developer of the Year
All this hits as Codemasters celebrates their best 12 months in the company's 22 year history. Congrats, guys and gals -- we can't wait to see what you've got lined up for 2008.
