As many PSP owners are basking in the simplicity of accessing the Net wirelessly from their portable brick (with others toiling away at a homebrew v2.0, so we hear), Sony Computer Entertainment America has stepped it up a notch, today releasing the Firmware 2.5 update for the system.

A succinct rundown of what’s included without the jargon in-between? You got it.

-- The PSP will provide further portable entertainment with another product from Sony, the LocationFree® Player and Base Station. The PSP can access the LocationFree Base Station so that you can watch your favorite TV programming over the Internet via your PSP. Furthering our promise of truly enabling you to bring your entertainment with you wherever you go, the PSP system enables you to play games, movies, music, access the Internet and now watch TV!
-- Consumers can now save the Text-Size and Display Mode settings within the browser.
-- The PSP system will now remember the history of online forms that are accessed through the browser.
-- Consumers will now have the option of setting the date and time of the PSP system via the Internet.
-- A new wireless security method has been added, WPA-PSK (AES).
-- The upgrade also allows playback of copyright-protected MPEG4 AVC video.
-- The on-screen keyboard will now have Korean as an input option.

The update is available as we speak for download either wirelessly with the PSP or from a PC at http://www.us.playstation.com/psp and transferred USB style. Enjoy!
