PlayStation 3 Launching for $499/$599 in U.S.
It's official: you'll be paying out the ass come November!
Published: May 8, 2006
Straight the Sony Press Conference reception, we're here to drop the big PS3 bombshell.
The PlayStation 3 will be living up to its early November shipdate, and, taking a hint from the Xbox 360, will be shipping in two bundles. A hard drive will come in the box for both systems, but in two different flavors.
In the US, the PS3 will be hitting on November 17 for...
PLAYSTATION 3 with 20GB hard drive -- $499
PLAYSTATION 3 with 60GB hard drive -- $599
Our Japanese friends will be seeing the system about a week earlier on the 11th, at 59,800 yen (about $537) for the 20GB bundle, with an "open price" for the 60GB pack that retailers themselves can set.
Finally, in Europe, the PS3 will be shipping on the 17th (same as the North American release date) at a slighty more steeped price: 499 euros ('bout $637) for the 20GB pack, 599 ($764) for the 60GB pack. Curse those conversion rates!
We've replicated this post on our forums, so be CERTAIN to head there to discuss your thoughts!
