With several hardware aspects of the PlayStation 3 already confirmed, Sony, from its Tokyo briefing, delved into the first details concerning the system’s online feature. So far, the community tools will include lobby matching, voice chat and e-commerce, said to include loadable software from the system’s hard drive (a required 60GB peripheral).
While no pricing structure was announced, the “basic” online service, courtesy of Sony Online Entertainment, will be free, allowing players to connect to a high-speed broadband network through Gigabit Ethernet.
