Konami Gets eCommy
That eCommy, not eCommie; no digital Marxes here.

It’s a special time in the life of a company – particularly a video game publisher – when they finally take their first trepidacious steps into the online world. Opening one’s catalog up to online sales is a huge step towards keeping a back library intact (hopefully), and makes it easier to funnel funds directly into the pockets of the guys making and publishing the games. At least, that’s the general idea.
“The launch of eCommerce on our website is an important milestone for the company but it’s our customers who will benefit the most from this service,” claims Catherine Fowler, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Konami Digital Entertainment - America. “Konamistyle.com provides a direct method to purchase Konami’s products and gives us the flexibility to service our customers in ways that were just not imaginable previously. From offering specialized promotions to providing exclusive opportunities, we’ll be able to tailor konamistyle.com to meet the specific needs of our customers as never before.”
That’s right Konamistyle.com. Not the title we would have picked (it feels a little too close to SonyStyle, which is where we go to look at stuff we can’t afford and then cry about it), but it’s a step in the right direction. The site’s simplistic design and promises of stuff like sweepstakes, cross-promotion, special deals and loyalty programs are enticing, though – if only to our capitalist sensibilities.
So g’head, poke around over there, and if you do end up buying something (we’re waiting until they boost their catalog above the 75 or so games to include the pure awesomeness that is Shadow of Destiny), tell ‘em TotalPlayStation.com sent ya.
