If you were as much of a hardcore gamer back in the day as I was, you may remember a little title called "Vectorman" for the Sega Genesis. An average platformer featuring a strange hero composed of yellow balls. Remember? Sega certainly does, which is why they have announced a new Vectorman game (titled simply "Vectorman" for now) currently in the works. Pseudo Interactive is the crew in charge of development, and although the game won't hit shelves until early 2004, the game will be making its first appearance at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3).

Besides being on a different console, "Vectorman" has a few more changes over its Genesis predecessor. This time around, the game will be a third-person action shooter starring the one and only Vectorman, but no longer is he the flimsy, ballzee character. As a robotic soldier fully equipped to wreck havoc, Vectorman must set out to rescue Gamma 6 from the evil Volt (who is an Orbot, or in other words, a robot enemy). To aid you on your mission, you'll have access to more than 15 massive weapons, as well as 25 upgradeable parts to use on that walking arsenal you call Vectorman.

To suit such a destructive soldier, the game's environments will be fully destructible and interactive, which in some instances, can be used to your advantage. In addition to the amazing interactive environments, "Vectorman" is said to feature advanced enemy AI (artificial intelligence). Orbots will come as prepared as you will, adapting to their own environments and using strategic combat tactics to use against Vectorman.

"'Vectorman' doles out destruction in spades," said Mike Fischer, vice president of marketing, SEGA of America, Inc. "With a massive arsenal of circuit-shredding weapons and upgrades, things are bound to get messy. You'll almost start feeling bad for the Orbots. Almost."
