Ronimo and dtp entertainment Launch Awesomenauts Update
Free goodies for those of you who want more pew-pew in your tower defense.

Well, kids, it's finally here: the update you all were waiting for -- you being the people that downloaded Awesomenauts, that is. If you haven't, you may not know about the state of Ronimo's little MOBA that could. You may also be wondering what MOBA stands for. See, that's why we're here, though: to make you seem super cool in front of your friends.
Multiplayer Online Battle Arena games is a germination of the more hands-on style of real-time strategy that came from wildly popular (and insular) mods to games like StarCraft and WarCraft III -- the biggest of 'em all so far being Defense of the Ancients. Rather than issuing orders via menu, MOBAs favor a more hands-on approach to controlling the action directly, pitting teams against each other to overwhelm the enemy team's base... or so we've heard.
It's a purely community-based game, meaning if there are no people playing, there's no game to be had, really, which is why developer Ronimo Games and publisher dtp entertainment have readied a free update to Awesomenauts that they help will get more people trying to take down the enemy's drills. See, there's this whole space mining thing and a valuable ore... basically it's a constant tug-of-war over resources, which makes for a neato competitive game in our minds.
In addition to the usual balancing tweaks that come out of community feedback from an online multiplayer game such as this, the update also adds additional prestige levels (read: once you hit the experience level cap, you can roll back over to level 1 with some bragging rights) and connectivity fixes that were asked for -- sometimes with less than kind words. The biggest addition, however, is two new Awesomenauts to join the fold: Derpl Zork brings a transforming combat walker to the fray in the hopes of offsetting his dumb-as-dirt intelligence, while Coco Nebulon adds some much-needed female presence to the cast of characters with a hefty dose of electrically-charged attacks.
As we are afflicted with copypasteitis, we must now hit ctrl+c/ctrl+v to let the game's creators explain in simple bulleted terms what the new patch has joined:
[-] 3 on 3 online platforming shooter action with bright 80's cartoon style
[-] 8 very unique and highly customisable characters, each with their own attacks and skills
[-] Online and offline play with up to 3 players on a single console using splitscreen
[-] Full drop in drop out support with bots and humans being swapped where needed
[-] Strong MOBA influences, classes, upgrades, creeps, turrets, bases, tactical depth, etc.
[-] Advanced matchmaking options, which allow you to queue up for online matches without forcing you to wait in a matchmaking lobby!
[-] Unlock more than 100 unique items to beef up your abilities and customize your personal playing style for each match!
[-] Face melting battles across multiple exotic planets and alien spaceships!
That last one is probably not literal (probably), but we're hoping this update (just launch the game and download the patch to apply them) will help boost Awesomenauts' player base numbers a little more. After all, you can only MOBA with other online multiplayers, right? Right!
