Borderlands 2 Limited and Collector's Editions Announced
What's better way to store vital documents than a loot box?

Everyone here loved the original Borderlands. I think it goes without saying that we are all eagerly awaiting Borderlands 2. Just about every game on the market nowadays has a special edition of sorts and this game will be no different.
2K Games and Gearbox Software announced today that there will be three editions of the game. The first, and most obvious, will be the vanilla version. The other two versions, though, have their own bells and whistles. First up is the "Deluxe Vault Hunter’s Collector's Edition" and it will retail for $99.99. It comes with an authentic Marcus Kincaid bobblehead, the Inside the Vault: The Art & Design of Borderlands 2 hardbound book, a collectable sticker set, a map of Pandora, a digital comic download code; and bonus downloadable in-game digital content.
The "Ultimate Loot Chest Limited Edition" includes all of those items with a twist. The game will come in its very own scaled replica red loot chest just like those you see within the game, a steelbook case (side note: I am a sucker for steelbooks), a Creatures of Pandora wide-format ID chart, a lithograph postcard set; field notes from Sir Hammerlock, a cloth map of Pandora, and a numbered certificate of authenticity. This version will run you a whopping $149.99 so only the truly dedicated will likely pick this up. Time will tell just how limited this version is and hopefully it won't suffer the fate of previous space consuming special editions (hello, Master Chief cat helmets in the clearance aisle of Best Buy).
Pre-ordering any version of the game will nab you access to the Borderlands 2 Premiere Club. This code will grant access to the Gearbox Gun Pack, a Golden Key, the Vault Hunter’s Relic and an all-new fifth character class - the Mechromancer. The gun pack should be quite helpful for the early part of the games and the Golden Key unlocks a rare in-game item in the mysterious Golden Sanctuary Loot Chest. We have no idea if this key will be available in the game or if its contents can be found elsewhere, but it is likely to be something that is at least a timed exclusive to those with codes. The Vault Hunter’s Relic is an in-game item that boosts players’ gear-hunting fortune while playing solo or teaming up with friends. The Mechromancer character class will be available following launch when development of the character is complete and is free to those who pre-order. So if you don't pre-order prepare to fork over some extra cash to gain access.
While you wait for the game's release on September 18, swing by and check out our preview. In the meantime make sure to pre-order and save up if you plan to have one of the special editions.
