Max Payne 3 Soundtrack Featuring HEALTH Coming May 23
It's good for you!
Published: May 2, 2012
Around these parts we are excited for Max Payne 3. I am especially so after getting the original Max Payne on my iPhone. Just goes to show the advances in modern technology. Now if only I could find an easy way to play Max Payne 2 that doesn't involve ordering a copy of the game. Hint, hint Rockstar.
Anyway, to get back on topic, Max Payne 3's soundtrack will be available digitally later this month. It is composed and recorded by the LA-based band HEALTH, and will feature the song "TEARS" which is due to be a single release on iTunes eight days before the rest of the album. In case you were wondering, yes, that lines up perfectly with the game's release.
“Working on the soundtrack to Max Payne 3 was a great experience,” said John Famiglietti of HEALTH. “Rockstar gave us the freedom to bring our own sound to Max’s dark story, and we’re really proud of the results.”
"TEARS" is the song you may have heard in the game's official TV spot. If you're interested in learning the band's thoughts on the game you can head over to Pitchfork and check out their exclusive Q&A.
“By using a band instead of a traditional composer, we’ve created a soundtrack that sounds completely unique,” said Ivan Pavlovich, Rockstar soundtrack supervisor. “HEALTH have created hundreds of hours of amazing music for the game’s score, and distilled it into a devastatingly moody and atmospheric soundtrack album."
The soundtrack will also have a new, exclusive song from São-Paulo-based Brazilian hip-hop artist, Emicida.
Check back later this month for our verdict on Max Payne 3. In the meantime why not enjoy some fun tunes?
