"The Tester" is a far bigger success than I imagined. I would have never guessed that last season had 3.5 million downloads (which averages out to 325,000 viewers per episode) and that so many people are interested in the show. When the show was first unveiled I remember joking that it was a reality show to see people win the "honor" of a crappy job. It could never work, right?

Turns out I was wrong and that the show is a guilty pleasure for quite a few people.

"With each season of ‘The Tester’ we have seen a significant increase in fan engagement and enthusiasm for compelling gaming lifestyle content delivered to our PSN audience,” said Kevin Furuichi, executive producer of original programming, PlayStation Network. “Season 2 of ‘The Tester’ received a 46 percent increase from the debut season with more than 3.5 million downloads, which ranks the average episode viewership on par with popular television series on DIRECTV.”

The winner of this season will get a $5,000 signing bonus, 55" 3D Bravia TV, a PS3, and a Ford Focus Titanium.

“Ford is always looking for new mediums that help us engage with customers in different ways,” said Brian McClary, Ford social and emerging media specialist. “We received positive feedback and results from last season’s participation and this season we are upping the ante by giving the winner of ‘The Tester’ a 2012 Ford Focus Titanium. We’ll continue to look at original programming offered on PlayStation Network in non-traditional ways to help our customer brand engagement.”

The show also includes a number of guest judges. Check out this who's who of the gaming industry:

- John Garvin – Game Director, Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Director, Product Development, Sony Bend Studios

- David Jaffe – Co-Director Twisted Metal and Co-Founder of Eat Sleep Play (and personal friend of the site!)

- Dylan Jobe – President, LightBox Interactive

- Seth Killian – Special Combat Advisor, Capcom

- Greg Miller – PlayStation Executive Editor, IGN

- Nolan North – Actor, Author, the Voice of Nathan Drake

- Todd Papy – Design Director, God of War III

Starting tomorrow you'll be able to download the first episode from the PS Store. If you're into conga lines and dress up, head on over to PlayStation Home and watch it in Theatre 2. If you happen to use Crackle then I'm happy to report that option is also available. Full episodes can also be watched online for the first time. There are more ways to watch "The Tester" than ever before so I won't accept any excuses. The first two seasons are also available in full on the PS Store.

Speaking of PS Home, if you watch all eight episodes you will get a free virtual shirt and and virtual Quest Trophy. You have one week to view the current one so there's no rush. As contestants are eliminated they will be featured on IGN's Podcast Beyond. No word yet if they will be featured on Good Morning America.
